Brakefield House in the Riverwalk
I love playing at new locations because I get to explore a little more of Charlotte each time. I've played at some venues many many times (hello, Duke Mansion!), and others just once or twice, but I consider myself so fortunate that harp takes me to the far reaches of Charlotte (and beyond). For this wedding, I travelled to The Brakefield House in the Riverwalk down in Rock Hill, SC. As I pulled up, I definitely did not expect to be playing in such a beautiful outdoor space, right next to a rushing river.
I didn't have time to linger and take more pics of the beautiful space, because I had to start rehearsing with the couple's cousin for the ceremony! I was grateful that their cousin happened to be amazing singer from Wingate University because it made the rehearsal a snap. We played through "Marry Me" by Train a couple of times and we were all set for the ceremony.
The couple chose these musical selections:
Seating of the Mothers and Grandparents: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring by Bach
Bridesmaids: Prelude in C by Bach
Flowergirl and Ringbearer: Processional by Linda Wood
Bridal Processional: Canon in D by Pachelbel
Lighting of the Candle: Marry Me by Train (with soprano)
Recessional: Trumpet Voluntary
The ceremony went off without a hitch and was gorgeous. I bet Emily ad Alex got some amazing pictures with the sun hitting them just right:) I then scooted off to play an outdoor concert for the Charlotte Symphony as part of their Summer Pops 2018. I am beyond grateful that I can call this crazy harp life my own. Congrats to the happy couple!
