Weddings in 2020

It has been far too long since I played a wedding. As with most musicians, all our weddings, church services, and background music gigs were cancelled or postponed due to Covid-19. Heck, I haven't even played with my Charlotte Symphony since March!

I appreciate the need for quarantining and social distancing, but I deeply missed performing. There is something intensely gratifying about performing live for people. Performing via Zoom or my own solitary practice doesn't even begin to feel as satisfying.

It was such a pleasure to play my first wedding this past weekend for sweet couple Patrick and Sokhandy in Greenville, SC at the Kilgore-Lewis House. I was placed in the covered gazebo close to the attendees but far enough away that I could safely remove my mask. You could not have asked for more perfect weather either! A rare glimpse of fall amidst the usual heat of September southern heat.

The couple chose these tracks:

  • When You Say You Love Me - Josh Groban

  • Stand By Me - Ben E. King

  • Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers

  • Endless Love - Lionel Richie

  • A Thousand Years - Christina Perri

But the best part was the sweet words from the mother-in-law!

"I have to say, being the mother of the bride your mind is going in a million different directions the day of the wedding! Andrea's music, timing, and performance was so perfect, I had NO worries about the music!! She did such an excellent job and made each step of the ceremony seamless, natural and beautiful! Her professionalism and personal touch took the ceremony to another level and we can not express our thanks and awe for the AMAZING & INCREDIBLE results! "Thank you" will never show our true gratitude!"
